Invitation Accepted!

It was a very different March break for some of OTTC’s High Performance youth and Coach Priyanka this year as they were invited to join Three10 Table Tennis Club in Oakville Ontario. Three10 is one of Canada’s National High Performance Training Centres and an establishment renowned for producing National Team Players such as David Xu. The agenda was twofold as it was the chance for both clubs to share learning and teaching experiences with one another.

Coach Priyanka was invited to Three10 to train Jessie Xu who competed in the recently concluded World Table Tennis Championships in Busan, Korea. Jessie is also the top ranked female player in Canada in Under 19 Girls. The training camp was organized to assist Jessie’s training for the upcoming Canadian Qualifications trials for the Paris Olympics.  It was an opportunity for Jessie as one of Canada’s young talent, and currently ranked 20th female to practice with, and learn from Coach Priyanka who is currently ranked as the 9th female player in Canada.

The High Performance Youth at the OTTC were simultaneously extended an invitation to join Coach Priyanka on her trip to Oakville. The kids, therefore, had the chance to train under Raymond Zhang, coach of the Canadian National Team at the Pan American Junior Championships, 2023. As well as Zhenyi Lin, former member of the Chinese Women’s National Team. An additional motive of the trip was for Coach Priyanka to move further in her journey as a coach by learning from some of the most qualified and experienced coaches in the country.

We would like to thank Dejan Papic, Canada’s High Performance Coordinator for facilitating a stronger relationship between the Ottawa Table Tennis Club, and Three10 Table Tennis Club. Mr. Papic is currently mentoring Coach Priyanka as an advisor and guide by closely monitoring the process of the High Performance Youth.

Our kids also had the opportunity to experience the metropolitan city of Toronto for the first time! All in all it was certainly a week that will be remembered.

The OTTC would like to recognize the efforts of  Dejan Papic, Raymond Zhang, Oakville Chinese Table Tennis Association,  and finally Steven Lambruschini for their support in the continued development of the High Performance Youth of the Ottawa Table Tennis Club.
