The Ottawa Table Tennis Club is also designated as a High Performance Centre (HPC) by Table Tennis Canada!
Currently, there are 4-5 High Performance Centres across the province. HPCs and High Performance Programs are designed to promote the development of young athletes to allow them to reach higher levels in regional, provincial as well as national tournaments.
The athletes who are a part of a High Performance Program have the full support of the Ontario Table Tennis Association as well as Table Tennis Canada. Their progress is closely monitored by both associations and they are eligible to receive financial support for training camps, both nationally and internationally, as well as tournaments.
The term “high performance” was first introduced by the International Table Tennis Federation to develop an extensive program that facilitates the growth of aspiring athletes to achieve greater heights on national and international platforms. Therefore, Provincial and National High Performance Centres, including the Ottawa Table Tennis Centre operate under the protocols supervised by the International Table Tennis Federation, commonly known as ITTF.
