Stéphane Charbonneau — with over 40 years playing competitive table tennis in Canada, Stéphane is one of our most experienced players. In the 1980s, he was ranked ninth overall for men in Canada and sixth overall for men in Ontario. He continues to compete, most recently reaching the semi-finals in a Québec Circuit #3 tournament in 2016. Stephane brings genuine passion, enthusiasm and a strong competitive nature to the table—literally—and loves coaching what he calls “the world’s best sport.”

Julia Charbonneau — An accomplished athlete, Julia started playing table tennis in 1974. Within two years, she was ranked #1 in U-13 in Quebec. Two years after that, she was #1 in U-15 in Canada. That same year, she was 1st in Junior Miss doubles and 2nd in Junior Miss. By the time she was 17, she was the Canadian junior Champion, ranked—you guessed it—#1 in U-17 in Canada. When she was 20, she was—YES! #1 in Canada in women’s U-21! As well as representing both Ontario and Quebec at the Canadian Championships then, Julia was also selected to represent Canada at the Commonwealth Championships in India, coming back with a silver medal. Now, four decades later, she is still active in the game and takes pleasure in passing her knowledge along to both recreational players and those who are podium-bound.

Steve Lambruschini (OTTC Co-founder) — Like many of us, Steve grew up with a ping-pong table in the basement of his house. By 2007, he was a member of the Scarborough Kings Table Tennis Club and Canadian-Chinese Table Tennis Association in Toronto. In 2010, he moved to Ottawa where he jumped into table tennis as both a vocation (he found employment at Table Tennis Canada) and an avocation (he organized local tournaments at the National Table Tennis Training Centre). Several years of working closely with the National Team helped to shape Steve's understanding of the fundamentals of table tennis—proper technique, controlling spin and game strategy—something he looks forward to passing on to new players at OTTC.
